{"id":1049,"date":"2010-09-28T16:04:33","date_gmt":"2010-09-28T23:04:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/gourmet.mygreatvet.com\/?p=1049"},"modified":"2010-09-28T16:04:33","modified_gmt":"2010-09-28T23:04:33","slug":"chai","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/gourmet.mygreatvet.com\/?p=1049","title":{"rendered":"Chai"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Recipe courtesy Aarti Sequeira, 2010\u00a0 <!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Ingredients<br \/>\n2 cups water<br \/>\n1 (1-inch) piece cinnamon stick<br \/>\n4 green cardamom pods, smashed<br \/>\n4 whole cloves<br \/>\n1\/2 star anise<br \/>\n2 quarter-sized coins fresh ginger<br \/>\n2 scant teaspoon black tea leaves (recommended: Taj Mahal) or black tea of choice<br \/>\n2 teaspoons honey, or more to taste<br \/>\nWhole milk or half-and-half<br \/>\nDirections<br \/>\nIn a medium pan, bring the water, all of the spices and the ginger to a boil over medium heat. Turn off the heat and allow it to steep for 15 minutes.<\/p>\n<p>Bring the mixture back to a boil, then add the tea. Turn the heat off, and allow it to steep for 3 to 5 minutes depending on how strong you like your tea. Stir in the honey and add milk to your liking.
