{"id":72,"date":"2008-11-16T12:28:30","date_gmt":"2008-11-16T19:28:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/gourmet.mygreatvet.com\/?p=72"},"modified":"2009-09-19T11:48:56","modified_gmt":"2009-09-19T18:48:56","slug":"apple-and-walnut-torte","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/gourmet.mygreatvet.com\/?p=72","title":{"rendered":"Apple and Walnut Torte"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Giada De Laurentiis<br \/>\nEveryday Italian, Food Network Nov 16, 2008<\/p>\n<h1><!--more--><\/h1>\n<h1>Ingredients<\/h1>\n<ul>\n<li>1\/4 cup orange-flavored liqueur (recommended: Grand Marnier)<\/li>\n<li>1\/4 cup dried cranberries<\/li>\n<li>1 teaspoon ground cinnamon<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 orange, zested<\/li>\n<li>1 cup all-purpose flour<\/li>\n<li>1 1\/2 teaspoons baking powder<\/li>\n<li>1\/4 teaspoon salt<\/li>\n<li>4 eggs<\/li>\n<li>8 tablespoons butter, melted<\/li>\n<li>1\/3 cup sugar<\/li>\n<li>1 teaspoon vanilla extract<\/li>\n<li>2 cups diced peeled apples (about 2 apples)<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 cup chopped walnuts, toasted<\/li>\n<li>Ice cream, for serving<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h1>Directions<\/h1>\n<p>Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.<\/p>\n<p>In a small saucepan, heat the orange liqueur. Turn off the heat and add the cranberries, making sure all the cranberries are submerged in the liquid. Set aside.<\/p>\n<p>In a small bowl, mix together the cinnamon and the orange zest. Stir in the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.<\/p>\n<p>In a large bowl, mix together the eggs, butter, sugar, and vanilla. Add the dry ingredients and stir to combine. Add the apples, walnuts, and drained cranberries. Spoon the mixture into a lightly greased 8 by 8 by 2-inch glass baking dish or 8-inch cake pan.
