Diabetes Management Info

Dr. Mark Hyman’s book “The Blood Sugar Solution” lists the following vitamin/supplements as helpful in managing or preventing Type II diabetes and weight.  Current (2020) sources for these supplements are also listed, as well as possible formula products which might make it easier to get the complete round with less pills or less cost.  He recommends all supplements be taken WITH food, so with breakfast and dinner respectively if BID.

1.  Vitamin D3 – 1000-2000 IU/day with BREAKFAST **this is considered a maintenance level, if you are currently deficient, you may need to take more.

  • Basic Nutrients: 2000IU
  • Medibolic: 1000IU

2. Magnesium 100-200 mg BID

  • Basic Nutrients: 20mg
  • Medibolic: 150mg

3. Omega 3 1000-2000mg BID. (EPA+DHA at a ratio  3:2)

4.  300-600mg alpha lipoic acid BID

  • R-LIPOIC acid has 100mg

5.  200-600mcg chromium polynicotinate/day (**up to 1200mcg/day might be helpful**)

  • Medibolic:400mcg chromium PICOLINATE
  • Women 50+: 200mcg chromium nicotinate GLYCINATE

6. 1-2 mg Biotin BID

  • Basic Nutrients: 500mcg
  • Medibolic 500mcg
  • Women 50+: 400mcg

7. 125-250mg Cinnamon BID

  • Medibolic: 250mg

8. 25-50mg Green Tea Catechins BID

  • Medibolic:  200mg

9.  2.5grams PGX fiber, in 8 oz of water, 15minutes before each meal
