Banana Nut Bread

This is Sue Frohnapfel’s recipe that I acquired in Corona in 1965. 

1/2 cup butter
1 cup sugar
2 eggs beaten
3 tsp baking powder
1 cup mashed bananas
1 tsp lemon juice
2 cups sifted flour
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup nut meats

Cream shortening and sugar together.  Beat eggs well and add to creamed mixture.  Mash bananas with fork and lemon juice.  Mix into the creamed mixture.  Sift flour, baking powder and salt together and add.  Add nuts, turn into greased 1 1/2 lb pan.  Bake @ 350 F for one hour and 15 minutes.
