This is a Sue Fraunaffle recipe from Corona.

Ingredients:

  • 1 packet dry yeast
  • 2 1/4  c lukewarm water
  • 3 T sugar
  • 1 T salt
  • 2 T shortening
  • 6 to 7 cups flour

Directions:

Mix yeast and water together until yeast is disolved.  Then add sugar, salt and shortening.  Mix in the flour, a little at a time, until dough cleans sides of bowl.  Turn onto lightly floured board and knead until dough is smooth.  Place dough into a greased bowl and cover.  Let rise until double in size (about 1 hour).  Knead about 10 minutes and divide dough into two parts.  Place each half into a loaf pan and let rise about 45 minutes.  Bake in a  400 degree oven for 40 to 50  minutes.  Remove from pans and brush with shortening.
